“ We enjoyed our family dinner at the restaurant. The food was delicious, authentic, and aesthetically pleasing. Both the service and the atmosphere were great. The place has a variety of unique cocktails, beer, and horilka ( Ukrainian vodka). It is a great restaurant to discover authentic Ukrainian cuisine or satisfy a craving for a home cooked Ukranian food. ”
“ So good! The ambience is nice, but also casual. Our food took a bit long so they gave us a free appie and shots. High value for the cost. The staff are lovely and the food delish! Highly recommend. ”
“ Very good restaurant. Loved the cabbage roll appetizer. Good as I've had anywhere. Rest of the food excellent too. ”
“ A Ukrainian former colleague recommended this restaurant when she saw I was in Vancouver. I’ve travelled to Kyiv and Lviv multiple times before the war and I have grown to love the popular local food. I ordered the Kozak Lunch — which was a filling meal. I got Borsch with pork, Nalysnyky, Varenyky and a honey cake. It’s also served with your preferred beverage, either Uzvar or Kompot. I chose the latter. I didn’t realize I missed the food until I got to Kozak during my trip to Downtown Vancouver. My 1st spoonful of borsch was an instant flashback to the fond memories I had of my trips yo Kyiv and the many friends I had made there. They also sell breads and pastries as well as ready made borsch and salo in the small deli they have within the restaurant. The restaurant itself is very spacious and clean. The staff were all very awesome and welcoming. Happily chatted with our Ukrainian server who was more than happy, I think, to hear that I’ve visited her city before. If you are a foodie, and in downtown Vancouver, make sure to head out to Kozak and try their food. You will not regret it. I will surely comeback again! ”
“ We had the mama combo with wild boar pierogies, pork cabbage roll, and beef sausage, and the bacon and potato pierogies. Everything was excellent including the service provided. ”
“ I had an incredible experience at Kozak Ukrainian Restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, and I had the chance to try several traditional dishes I'd never had before. Every single item was flavorful and well-prepared. The standout for me was the wild boar perogies—so rich and satisfying, I could’ve had a second plate! Honestly, every dish we ordered was amazing. The staff were also super friendly and helpful, especially when it came to explaining the menu and helping us choose. Their passion for the cuisine really came through. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking to explore authentic Ukrainian flavors in a welcoming setting! ”
“ I had such a wonderful dinner here! After a very long day this is exactly the comfort food I needed. My partner and I shared little make it yourself pork belly sandwiches with yummy beet and horseradish sauce with pickles and house made bread, vegetarian bean borsch with more house made bread and Duck and Basil pierogies. Everything was very flavorful and delicious. The borsch eaten “like a Ukrainian” as they suggest was so fun and tasty. Their house made bread was textured and cooked perfectly. The sauce for the duck pierogies was layered and complex. I wish I could go back right now. Very good value for the price. Our server Danya was so kind and helpful and fun to be around. ”
“ The staff was really friendly and gave us great recommendations. This was my first time trying Ukrainian food, and it was delicious! Every dish was amazing, and the atmosphere at night was great too. ”
